The Infrastructures

Having the right infrastructure and tools in place is crucial to being able to help your company grow.

  • LABSSAH

    The laboratory is housed in FBK and has a state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure (650 square metres), and four platforms are available:

    1. Bio-imaging;
    2. Bio-functional materials;
    3. Analysis techniques using nanopores;
    4. Technologies for massive and parallel sequencing of nucleic acids (NGS).

    The Laboratory is divided into different areas: biophysics, chemistry-biochemistry, spectroscopy, cell cultures, electrophoresis, cell biology, microscopy, electrophysiology, NGS-preparative, NGS-sequencing and AFM (atomic force microscopy).

    The instrumentation includes:
    for cell and molecular biology: low- and high-pressure chromatography, set-ups for gel electrophoresis and blotting of nucleic acids and proteins, digital system for gel analysis, peptide synthesiser, mixers, incubators, magnetic stirrers, pH-meters, refrigerated microcentrifuges, bench-top centrifuges, ultracentrifuges, thermostatic baths, thermocyclers for real time and conventional PCR, concentrator, sonicator, spotter.
    In questo ambito si aggiunge, in collaborazione con UNITN-CIBIO, la Facility di sequenziamento che comprende sequenziatori HiSeq2500 e MiSeq Illumina, ION Torrent PGM Life Technologies e un area per la preparazione delle librerie suddivisa in pre e post-PCR.

    for analysing samples: epifluorescence and confocal microscopes, TIRF microscopy, absorbance and fluorescence microplate readers, spectrofluorimeter, light-scattering infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and, in collaboration with the MNF facility of the Materials and Microsystems Centre, electron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
